With
the maxilla Le Fort I osteotomy the dental arch was lifted
up, which allowed to hide underneath the lip the non esthetic
area of gingival. Those patients also breathe badly by the
nose and because of that bilateral inferior turbinates were
removed from the using intraoral access. Nowadays they breathe
only by the nose.The principle for correcting the smile
that does not show upper teeth is the same described previously.
However, the maxilla is lowered to the correct level in order
to achieve a good dental exposition.
